Burnished Plastics is my art line of shrink art wearable pins and wall hangings.
To burnish is an art term that describes the layering and blending of pencil on paper. To burnish something, in a colloqual term, is to make something shiny. To burn, is to leave something in the oven for too long. And that's where the name comes from! Burnished Plastics are shrink art (aka: Shrinky Dink) pieces using P6 plastic sheets that are colored/burnished and then sealed with a glossy resin for protection.
Each piece is inspired by an inside joke, my love of slightly-spooky curiousity cabinet findings, and the juxtoposition of a plastic item representing something of the natural world. A bit morbid, possibly, but you gotta admit it's fun and weird.
